Information in the Zensei app

What stays on your device

Zensei stores your practice data locally on your phone. That includes:

• Which sessions of The Journey you have completed
• Your EXP total, current belt, and day streak
• Mindful minutes accumulated from completed sessions
• Your settings, including background sound and volume preferences

This data is written to the app's own storage on your device. Deleting the app removes it. Because it is stored locally rather than in an account, we cannot recover it for you if you delete the app or lose the device, and we cannot see it at all.

What Zensei does not collect

• No account. There is no sign-up, no password, and no profile to create before you can practise.
• No microphone or camera access. Sessions are audio you listen to, not audio we record.
• No contacts, photos, or location. Zensei has no reason to ask, so it does not.
• No advertising identifiers and no third-party ad networks or trackers inside the app.

Crash and performance data

If you install Zensei from an app store, the store platform (Apple or Google) may collect its own crash, install, and performance statistics under its own privacy policy, and may show us those statistics in aggregate. That reporting is controlled by the platform and your device settings, not by us, and it does not include your practice content.

Information on this website

Analytics

These pages load a small, self-hosted analytics script from our own server at api.vault.kingmode.co. It records aggregate page-view information so we can tell which pages people find useful. It is not Google Analytics, there is no third-party advertising network involved, and we do not use it to build a profile of you across other websites.

Server logs

Like any website, our server records ordinary request logs (such as IP address, timestamp, requested page, and browser user agent) as part of serving and securing the site.

Cookies

This site does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Fonts

Page typography is loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when the page loads. That request is handled under Google's own privacy policy.

Your email address and the Starter Kit

If you submit the Starter Kit form, we collect the name and email address you type in, and we record when the form was submitted. That is the whole record.

We use it to:

• Send you the free Starter Kit you requested
• Tell you when Zensei launches and when meaningful updates land
• Send occasional practice notes and resources from KINGMODE

Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Our legal basis for sending these, where GDPR applies, is your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time without affecting anything you have already received.

We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Submissions are stored on our own server infrastructure rather than sold on to a data broker.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We share it only in these narrow cases:

• Service providers that make the site and emails work, such as our hosting provider and email delivery provider. They process data on our instructions and for no purpose of their own.
• App store platforms, for the store-level statistics described above, if you install Zensei from one.
• Legal obligation, if we are genuinely required by law to disclose something. We will tell you where we are permitted to do so.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and we will do it. Email is enough. We do not require you to create an account to make a request.

If you are in the UK or EU, GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in California, the CCPA gives you rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them. Since we do not sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

Children

Zensei is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete the record.

International transfers

Our servers are located in the United States, so information you send us is processed there.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we hold very little about you in the first place, which is the most reliable protection there is.
